“Trampolim” is the first solo album by Mônica Salmaso, a project aimed at exploring the Brazilian lyrical soul. Originally released in 1998 it is, above all, a look into Brazil and its regional nuances and details that make the richness of the country’s folklore.
Mônica Salmaso records and recovers a relegated Brazil, that of the simplest, essential, and, at the same time, complex popular artistic expression. She looks at it from her own point of view: “I realized that all the songs had a thing of folklore, so I decided to invest in this theme. I just didn’t want the album to sound like “zabumba-triangle-accordion”, which would be too regional for me. This is not my reality. I’m from São Paulo, a super urban person. I sing folklore songs that have been filtered by the city”, tells the singer.
