This CD celebrates the 50th anniversary of Cyro Pereira’s brilliant career, featuring not only his work as a composer but also as an excellent orchestrator who recreated Brazilian classics.
His performance as a conductor of popular and classical instrumental groups shows us the extent of his talent as well as his inexhaustible ability to combine orchestral timbres.
Cyro Pereira’s classical works have been played by orchestras from all over the world. His “String Quartet”, premiered by the Municipal Quartet in 1973, and his “Concertino for Zimbo Trio and Orchestra”, premiered by the Colón Theater Orchestra of Buenos Aires under the regency of Simon Blech, have been widely performed, just like the “Rapsódia Latina” included in this CD.
