The 10-track album reaffirms maturely and consistently the Brazilian language of group Pau Brasil, seeking to bring back some of the most celebrated Brazilian composers such as Heitor Villa-Lobos, Tom Jobim, Baden Powell, Moacir Santos, and Ary Barroso, but in a personal way.
The group also features unreleased compositions, and confirms its commitment to diversity of Brazilian music through the backlands of Nelson Ayres appearing in the tracks “Agreste” and “Caixote”; through the precious waltz “Sarapuindo” by Teco Cardoso; through the original and unique maxixe-canon “Pingue Pongue” by Paulo Bellinati; and through the revealing “Lá Vem a Tribo” by Stroeter and Bellinati, featuring a guest appearance by renowned English musician John Surman on the bass clarinet.
On “Daqui”, Pau Brasil shows its musical mastery and sense of dialogue, developing a contemporary vision of Brazilian music, and breaking the barriers among classical, popular, and improvised music.
