Samba is the staple diet of the country. It is Brazil’s rhythm. I am not an expert in it, as many people I admire are. I have got an amateur, a lover certificate. I was born, grew up and live among mountains, and I can only see the world with the eyes I was given by them. I am from Minas Gerais State, and offer here my vision. I bow down before this octogenarian mulatto named Samba.
As well as the wise, elegant and eternal Dorival Caymmi, it is still at the forefront, illuminating the path. To Samba and its descendants, here is a reverence from the mountains.
