Bonus track: soundtrack recorded by Pau Brasil for the exhibition “Arawete: Visão de um Povo Tupi da Amazônia”.

Pau Brasil’s only live album, Música Viva grew out of an invitation the group received to participate in the Brasil Musical, a project that recorded performances by twenty of Brazilian instrumental music’s most important names from June to September, 1983 in Sao Paulo.
“Our set was supposed to last about 40 minutes. That’s why we wrote two suites – to cover that time span – and we worked long and hard on allotting time for the improvisations”, recalls Rodolfo Stroeter.
The first suite consists of three compositions: ‘Cordilheira dos Andes’, by drummer Nenê; the collective composition ‘Tocaia’, and ‘Festa na Rua’, by Lelo Nazario and Stroeter.
Three more compositions make up the second suite: ‘Metrópolis Tropical’ by Lelo Nazario; ‘Olho d’Água’, by singer-guitarist Marlui Miranda, who had just joined the group; and ‘Bambuzal’ by Stroeter and Nenê.
“What you hear on the album is exactly what we recorded that evening and the group's sound evolution is clear with the participation of Ze Eduardo Nazario and Marlui Miranda", Stroeter remarks.
Pau Brasil musical elaboration points to the miscegenation between primitive music and contemporary music which would be further explored in 'Babel' (1995).
